Taj Simmons joined TMJ4 News in January 2026 as the market's first ever television reporter focused on Walworth County. He has more than a decade of experience in TV journalism with several stops in other Midwestern states before planting his roots in Wisconsin.
Taj arrived at TMJ4 from WRTV in Indianapolis, where he was nominated for the Indiana Broadcast Association's Multimedia Journalist of the Year award in 2025. At the end of his tenure, he was the market's only reporter covering Bloomington and Indiana University on a daily basis.
Before his stint in Indiana, Taj worked for WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa as a reporter and weekend anchor, where he covered several presidential candidates on the Iowa Caucus campaign trail.
He also spent time with WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Virginia and Spectrum News in Raleigh, North Carolina. Taj started his career at KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota.
Taj is originally from Oakland, California and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a double major in journalism and media cinema studies.
