MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers showed plenty of fight in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, but it was the Los Angeles Dodgers who emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.

The story of the night was Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell, who dominated with eight scoreless innings, recording 10 strikeouts and retiring 17 batters in a row.

"I think you have to tip your cap. He executed really well. We had our game plan going in. He did a really good job, just living low, really living on the edges. The toughest part was locating his changeup down — that created some issues for us. Yeah, just tip your cap to him," Caleb Durbin said.

Despite Snell's stellar performance, the Brewers had their chances to steal the victory. Milwaukee loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, but Brice Turang struck out to end the game and preserve the Dodgers' win.

"I was looking up at the top of the zone for the sinker or sweeper that he’s throwing, and he threw me a four-seam and it took off. It is what it is," Turang said.

Christian Yelich reflected on the team's late-game effort and the missed opportunity.

"We kind of got some traffic out there and put some good at-bats together late. We gave ourselves a chance. We were one swing away from kind of stealing that thing, and we made it interesting at the end. Obviously, we wish we would've pulled it out. We knew the series was gonna be a battle. There are gonna be a lot of close games — this one just didn’t go our way. But we have a long way to go," Yelich said.

The Brewers will look to even the series tonight when they send Freddy Peralta to the mound at American Family Field.
