WAUKESHA — This pandemic could be taking a toll on your mental health.

We understand the fears and loss your family may have endured from this virus.

That is why we created the series The Rebound Milwaukee. To help you manage the pressure, we discovered a free app being offered by United Healthcare.

Jenny Burghaus is a bubbly and energetic mother and grandmother. She recognized warning signs of changes to her mental health during the ‘Safer at Home’ order, “When it got extended I was really feeling like oh my gosh I don't know if I could do this. I've struggled with anxiety and depression in the past so I know the warning signs to look for.”

This includes loss of interest in daily activities, loss of energy and sleep changes.

She did the right thing and talked about it. That is when a friend told her about a free app called Sanvello, which was created to help you cope with stress. She’s been using it every day when she wakes up in her Waukesha home, “We can log in every day and say how we're feeling, like ‘today is a good day.’ I like the meditation part so every [few] days, they put out a new post on how to meditate.”

This resource is free thanks to United Healthcare. Dr. Nicole Brady represents the insurance company. The family physician believes this can help change lives, revealing, “Sometimes I have problems falling asleep at night my mind is just going I'm thinking so much, and there's a lot of exercises on there to help yourself turn off your own mind relax and help you sleep easier.”

What she likes most about this free app is that it teaches people how to help themselves. The doctor adds, “You realize you haven't slept well in the last few days and today you're saying you're not feeling that great maybe today we need to focus on sleeping better.”

For Jenny, she is looking forward to when everything gets back to normal, “I'll tell you I'll never take for granted meeting someone for just a cup of coffee!”
