WEST MILWAUKEE -- A West Milwaukee dentist is determined to remind your children why it is important to brush their teeth.

She just hosted this informational session by her employer Dental Associates, for every elementary student in southeast Wisconsin to see.

Normally, Dr. Wendy Zhu would be presenting the importance of brushing and flossing in the classroom. The pandemic is not stopping her from teaching at her office at Dental Associates on Miller Parkway.

Dr. Zhu has seen mouthfuls of cavities in children who neglect their teeth, "We see infection this can be problematic because they're going to have trouble eating trouble sleeping missing school because of it."

With the help of some stuffed animals, Dr. Zhu hopes you share the importance of flossing and brushing, "We do wanna be brushing not only the teeth but close to the gums that's where the germs get missed."

The rule of thumb is to bring your child in to see your dentist for the first time at a year old.

As they grow, supervise their flossing and brushing. Make sure they are brushing at least two minutes at a time in the morning and at night.
