MILWAUKEE — Four people were shot on the city's north side, including two children. One of the victims, a 37-year old man, died at the scene.

His mother, who did not give her name, identified her son as Darrell Marshall. She said the situation was awful.

"Whoever got the gun just went on a rampage and just started shooting people down the street," said Marshall’s mother.

Police say the other victims were a 10-year old, a 14-year-old, and a 26-year-old man. They say the 14-year-old is in grave condition.

Marshall's mother said he was in the neighborhood to drop off his son at a relative's home.

“He went to go pick his son up from school. His son's Auntie lives there. So he was bringing him over there," said Marshall's mother.

Police were patrolling in the area when they heard the shots ring out near 38th and Wright.

“When they got to the alley that's when the shots broke out. And we ran back in the store and police started chasing him going back towards 38th,” said witness Lee James.

Officers caught the suspect. They are still trying to figure out a motive.

It brings little comfort for the mother who now has to bury her child.

“He work everyday. He take care of 10 kids every day, faithfully,” said Marshall’s mother.
