WHITEWATER -- Police on the University of Whitewater campus say an emergency message to its students was sent in error Sunday.

WISC-TV reports the emergency note went to students' emails after 3 p.m., alerting them of an "active threat to life safety."

The university posted a note on its website, a technical issue accidentally pushed out the “Run, Hide, Fight” message. The note clarified there was no threat to the campus.

University staff and police are still investigating how the alert was sent out, according to the note.
