MENOMONEE FALLS — For the second time in less than a week, snow engulfed much of Southeast Wisconsin.

Snow quickly covered roadways Thursday afternoon, making visibility difficult. Drivers said they knew what they were in for.

"Because we have a truck it’s not as bad, but it’s very slippery and slushy," said Ikeya Thigpen. "If you don’t have good tires it could be terrible."

As night fell in Menomonee Falls, plows tried their best to keep up with the snowfall.

"I'm one that likes plowing," said Austin Damore. "A lot of people don’t, but I don’t mind it, because usually it’s late at night and there’s not a lot of people out."

By early Thursday evening, the snow had started to let up a bit. But Damore was racing against the clock to plow the parking lot before temperatures were forecast to drop.

"We got to get it all done before it gets really cold, before it all freezes too," Damore said.

Thigpen and her family were running some last-minute errands so they could plan to stay inside as much as possible over the next few days.

"I have to go to work, but the kids are going virtual tomorrow," Thigpen said. "Basically stay in the house, I got all the groceries for the rest of the week, so shouldn’t have to get out at any time."

Although this weather is typical for Wisconsin in February, it still continues to take Thigpen by surprise.

"I been here all my life and I still can’t get used to all of this," Thigpen said. "It’s just mountains and mountains of snow out here, and it's ridiculous."
