PEWAUKEE — A fundraiser has raised almost three times its goal, all to help Michael's House of Prime and its 32 employees after a vicious fire destroyed the building on Wednesday.

Michael's House of Prime, located on Prospect Avenue in Pewaukee, caught fire early Wednesday morning. Fortunately, no one was injured.

But now the owners of the 90-year-old restaurant and their 32 employees are without a source of income until the building is repaired. That is what the organizer of the GoFundMe sought to do.

As of the evening of Dec. 11, the fundraiser has raised $20,255, with the goal set at $7,500.

"It is too early to ask what the next steps are, but there are people who will not be serving food, pouring drinks, parking cars, hosting holiday memories or collecting a paycheck today," writes the fundraiser's organizer, Charlotte Peterson.

"I ask that if you were planning on dining at Michael's House of Prime this holiday season, think about that impact on the community. The building is gone, but the people are still here and they could use our neighborly support," Peterson writes.
