MILWAUKEE — A 27-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with a felony in association with the quadruple shooting that happened near 38th and Wright last week.

Jerry Versey faces a single charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

One of the victims, a 37-year old man, died at the scene. Police said the other victims were a 10-year-old, a 14-year-old and a 26-year-old man. The 14-year-old remains in grave condition.

About 5:30 p.m. Oct. 10, Milwaukee Police officers on patrol near 38th and Wright heard gunshots.

The criminal complaint against Versey said those officers “saw four or five black males pointing firearms at each other and shooting.”

Officers recovered a total of 15 9mm, .45 caliber and .40 caliber casings consistent with six different firearms being fired at 38th and Wright.

The officers saw someone, later identified as Versey, firing multiple shots and then running from the scene.

One officer jumped out of a squad near North 40th Street and began chasing Versey. The officer said Versey “was still carrying a black and silver handgun.”

Versey eventually stopped in an alley near North Grant Boulevard, according to the criminal complaint, and he was “no longer holding a firearm.” Versey was taken into custody.
