Even when you beat one of the top teams in the Woodland West there can be, “Frustration pretty much in a nutshell,” said Pirates Head Coach Justin. “I'm sure they felt the same way.”

“It was tough,” said Junior defensive lineman and running back Seth Bickett. “In a game like that where you know it's going to be tough, you want to be the first one to score because it seemed like no one was going to score for a while in that game.”

It was 0-0 between Greendale and Pewaukee until Bickett ran 23 yards for the first score of the game in the final minutes of the first half.

“That was awesome,” senior defensive end and guard Blaze Beltran said with a laugh. “That was a relief. When he got in there, I picked him up right away and I was like, 'Yeah, thatta kid.'”

In a 16-0 win, Pewaukee's offense did enough, and their defense shut down Panther quarterback Mitchell Gnat, who had thrown for 10 touchdowns in the first four games of the season.

“We're all dogs,” Beltran said. “We all come to the pile to get the tackle and we just keep on going.”

“Our team is really confident but there's something to be said about we haven't beat Greendale very much in the history of Pewaukee so that score said, ‘Hey, we can play with these guys,’” Bickett described.

“For us, it's one of those things where we're just trying to achieve our goals and our goal is to be 1-0 every week,” Coach Friske said.

The Pirates are now 5-0, tied at the top of their conference with New Berlin Eisenhower, Friday’s opponent.

“I'd say it gives us a lot of momentum going into the Eich game knowing that the Eich game is going to be a really great, tough game,” explained junior quarterback Josh Swanson. “I think it just gives us the confidence knowing that we have the skill and ability to play with anyone.”

Congratulations, Pewaukee Pirates on being named TODAY'S TMJ4’s Football Frenzy Team of the Week.
