Composting is an effective way to keep organic materials out of the landfill. Composting also helps residents and municipalities save money by reducing the need for garden debris collection services and fertilizers. Plus, compost helps create high quality soil for gardens and lawns. So with all these benefits you may be asking yourself "How do I get started?" Analiese Smith is back from Waukesha County Recycling with composting basics.

This week (May 5-11) is International Compost Awareness Week! Waukesha County is hosting a FREE Home Composting Workshop on Thursday, May 9 at Retzer Nature Center from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Registration is free, but recommended before the event. You can register at WaukeshaCounty.gov/recycling.
