The Youth Impact Club of West Bend is a Leadership Development program, where “real world” skills are developed through the creation and implementation of member created initiatives. Members embrace and promote improved mental health and suicide prevention by encouraging open discussion on mental illness, risk factors and behaviors associated with suicide, healthy coping skills, community connection, and stigma reduction within the school district and wider community. We spoke to Deeatra Kajfosz, Founder and Former Executive Director for Life of Hope, and Genna Howe the Marketing Director about the program, its benefits to the community, and their upcoming semi-virtual 5k fundraiser.

This year they are hosting their 6th Annual Butterfly Run/Walk semi-virtually! The event will allow for participants to social distance without disconnecting, which is critical for mental wellness and suicide prevention. Register for only $25 and choose one of four ways to participate! 100% of all profits will be used to support their Youth Impact Club, including the efforts to bring an evidence based, state-approved suicide prevention program into the West Bend School District.

Join in on Sunday, September 13th to run or walk the route in small groups, selecting one of the staggered start times. CDC guidelines will be followed to ensure a safe and fun run! Or you can choose to run virtually and join via Facebook Live for the opening program and a virtual walk of the route, which runs from Regner Park in West Bend, along the beautiful Eisenbahn Trail. Or you can choose to run the route a separate date and time; or run your own different route completely!

To join in on the fun visit RunSignUp.com/Races online. You’ll find the 6th Annual Butterfly Run Walk by selecting Wisconsin and September 13th in the search box.
