WAUKESHA — Some YMCA facilities in Waukesha County have launched "learning pods" to help students with virtual learning.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many students have enrolled in virtual learning. However, for some students, this form of learning can be difficult.

That's why several YMCA facilities in the greater Waukesha County area have created collaborative learning and student support groups to help kids with classes and homework.

These in-person learning pods are available at Greenfield and Menomonee Falls YMCA branches.

According to the YMCA of the greater Waukesha County area, the learning pods "support student academic, physical and mental health by helping students stay on task and avoid education back slides while also offering social interaction and outdoor (weather permitting) health and fitness activities."

The pods are available for students between the ages of four and 13 and are led by experienced childcare staff. The YMCA has COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of kids including increased sanitizing, face mask requirements, and social distancing.
