Man uses bucket truck to visit mother on third floor of nursing home

With nursing homes across the country closed to visitors in the hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19 to those who are most vulnerable, one Ohio man got creative in order to say hello to his lonely mother.

According to CNN, Charley Adams owns Adams Tree Preservation in Youngstown. When his mother told him that she wouldn't be able to leave her assisted living home due to the coronavirus pandemic, he decided to use his company's bucket truck to pay her a visit.

Adams' mother lives on the third floor of her care facility — well within reach of his truck's 80-foot arm.

"I called her on the phone and I said, 'look outside your window right now' — and there I was," Adams told WFMJ-TV in Youngstown.

Adams said he OK'd his use of the bucket truck with the care facility before paying his mom a visit.

Adams said he and his mother chatted about family for about five or 10 minutes. He also asked if he could bring her any books to read the next time he visits.

His wife, Corrie, snapped a photo of the two chatting — a photo that has since gone viral.

While Charley Adams says his mom doesn't own a computer, she's aware of her viral fame.

"Now with all the attention, she's getting lots of calls from family and friends from all over the country. And so it's been great," he said.
