MILWAUKEE - — Right now many families are still feeling the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic. As people continue to grapple with the day to day a serious concern remains; hunger. According to Feeding America, "In Wisconsin, 515,930 people are struggling with hunger - and of them 179,180 are children".

Feeding America also says:

Though many of us may not realize the grave disparities that exist in our own communities, people struggle with hunger in every county and congressional district in Wisconsin. They could be our neighbors, kids in our children's classes – the possibilities go on.

The Milwaukee Police Department's District 3 is helping to offset some of the burdens that COVID-19 has placed on families by hosting a free turkey giveaway to more than 100 families in need.

On Sunday, November 22nd, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm members in the community who are in need are invited to take part in this special giveaway happening at MPD District 3, 2333 N. 49th Street in the rear alley adjacent to District 3.

Milwaukee Police say, to reduce any potential traffic hazards, all residents who are interested in receiving these items should drive eastbound on North Ave to North 50th Street, and then eastbound through the alley adjacent to District 3. Officers will be available to assist with traffic.

In addition to the free turkey giveaway, hygiene bags which will contain body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, and a toothbrush will also be available upon request.
