WAUKESHA — A Waukesha County father is thankful for his daughter's safety after she was targeted in an attack at a local park on Tuesday.
Waukesha police said the attack happened at Frame Park on Tuesday. The dad, Brian Clemence, was forced to fight off the attacker, who went after his daughter, C.J.
"The man was stronger than me. I was pretty worried about it, but he didn't get my daughter. That was the main thing," Clemence said.
Scary moments at Frame Park, a place the family often goes for walks.
C.J. said she only could hear her mother telling her to get away.
"We were walking, and the next thing I hear is, 'Run, C.J., Run!,'" C.J. said.
Clemence said C.J. tried getting away, but the suspect grabbed her by her collar. That is when he said he sprang into action to protect his daughter.
"I ran a few feet, turn around, and with my fist, I went at him. I had to do something. I got him away from my daughter," Clemence said.
Waukesha police said the man was taken into custody after he ran into a nearby apartment where they learned he had a sort of mental illness.
