A person of interest was questioned and let go by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office after a report of an attempted child abduction in the Village of Belgium, and no arrests have been made.

“At first she thought it was her dad, coming up behind her, and she turned around and it wasn’t,” Laura Parkison, the mother of the potential victim, said.

Thursday afternoon, around 4:15 p.m. near Main St. and Dean Rd., Laura’s 11-year-old daughter was almost abducted near her home by what she described as a 60-year-old white man with a white beard wearing all black.

“As far as I know, he had her by the top of her head," Parkison said. "She put her hands like this on top, twisted around and broke his hold, kicked him, and she ran."

She said when her daughter told her what happened, she hugged her.

"I held on to her and I said that I was proud of her for what she did, and then I cried,” she said.

Now on a day when her daughters would ordinarily be outdoors, their bikes lay abandoned, and Laura is fighting to get the perpetrator behind bars so she and her family can get back the security they once had in their small town.

“I don’t care what your reasons were, I don’t care why you did it," Parkison said. "You just need to go away."
