MUKWONAGO — The Mukwonago Police Department says two children were rescued after they fell through the ice at a retention pond.
Officers say they were called, along with firefighters, at around 3:45 p.m. on December 26. People in the area tried to throw ropes and electrical cords to the two children, but they weren't able to pull them out of the pond.
One of the children couldn't tread water anymore and went underwater. At that time, Officer Wilson went on the ice, entered the water and made his way to the children.
Mukwonago Water Rescue personnel entered the water and were able to pull out the children and the officer. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
