WAUKESHA — The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department has identified the four victims stabbed Tuesday night at a house in the Town of Waukesha.

34-year-old Dominique Roth and 26-year-old Deidre Popanda were pronounced dead at the scene. 36-year-old Desirae Popanda and 62-year-old Gilane Popanda had to go to the hospital for their injuries.

The sheriff's department has not released the suspect's name. However, he remains in custody.

Multiple next-door neighbors told TMJ4 News that the victims were three sisters and their mother, who all lived in a home on Oak Grove Lane. Sadly, two of those sisters are now dead.

Emergency dispatchers said a frantic 911 call led police to a home where officers made a devastating discovery.

"We're being advised by the caller that he's trying to stab them," a dispatcher told responding officers.

Next-door neighbors said they heard commotion outside the home around 6:45 p.m. They came outside to find one of the victims, who they claim is the suspect's mother-in-law, hiding in her backyard and suffering from stab wounds.

"Have fire come direct to the scene," an officer told emergency dispatchers. "I've got a female outside with a chest injury."

Neighbors said they also witnessed the suspect screaming in his driveway before police arrived and took him into custody.

"Are they able to exit the house, so he is alone?" an officer asked. "We are still gathering," a dispatcher responded. "The male still has the knife on him."

Dispatchers later learned the suspect's 10-year-old nephew ran to a neighbor's home without injury.

"I think everyone's just kind of shocked that this could happen so close to home in such a quiet neighborhood," said Michele Anzivino.

Anzivino doesn't know the victims or the suspect, but she's heartbroken for their families who are now grieving an unimaginable loss.

"I hope that the two victims that were injured are okay," she said.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said the suspect's name would be released at a later time. Fire crews confirm he was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but he remains in police custody.
