SHOREWOOD, Wis. — The Shorewood community comes together to for two twin teenagers. One was killed Sunday, the other is fighting to recover after a car crash.

Megan Frieseke was killed on the last day of spring break. Her cousin Nick Janasick said the high school junior's passion for just being herself was inspiring.

"Megan was the gentliest, kindest, most free spirited person that I know," Janasick said.

Megan and her twin sister Emily Frieseke were passengers in an SUV driving home from Madison. Police said two cars going the opposite direction lost control. One went through the median and crashed into their vehicle. Megan died and her sister was seriously hurt. Now Emily is surrounded by her family but missing a piece of herself, Megan.

"She loved living life," Janasick said. "Most importantly she loved her twin sister Emily. So I know they are both fighting together for Emily to get better."

Tonight, their family in Shorewood held up a phone for Emily to listen to all the prayers and well wishes while she is in a Madison hospital. She did not answer, but her family did.

"We appreciate all of you so much," older sister Maddie Frieseke said.

They say the focus now is bringing Emily home.

"She's responsive and she is really just to get back because she wants to do it for her sister," Janasick said.

The family hopes Emily can leave the ICU by Tuesday.
