MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a bizarre shooting that happened just before a crash on Milwaukee's east side Thursday.

Authorities responded to the scene for reports of a rollover crash about 9:30 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Oakland and North Avenues.

Police said that a 17-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was driving a vehicle towards St. Mary's Hospital when he collided with another car. The force of the crash was so significant that it caused his vehicle to rollover.

Steph Davies owns a business near the intersection. She witnessed the crash while working late on Thursday.

“I ran to the door and saw a truck flipped over and saw the bottom of the truck,” Davies said. “A woman climbed out the top of the truck and said there’s somebody inside.”

Investigators attempted to obtain more information about the teenager's gunshot wounds, however he subsequently became uncooperative.

Police took the 17-year-old into custody for obstructing an investigation after being treated at the local hospital for his non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators continue to determine the circumstances of the incident. If you have any information, click here to send an anonymous tip to investigators.
