MILWAUKEE — Fourth District Alderman Robert J. Bauman is asking residents to share information on electric scooter accidents.

The request comes after a columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote a piece about the dangers of electric scooters after his daughter suffered serious injuries while riding one in Nashville.

Ald. Bauman said his office has also received injury reports caused by riding the scooters like broken legs and arms, and wants residents and health care providers to contact his office so that the injuries can start being officially documented.

"This is very important since the Common Council will soon be discussing the results of the scooter pilot program and debating the merits of establishing a regulatory system that would permit scooters on a permanent basis," said Bauman in a press release. "We need as much data as possible to make an informed decision."

The dockless scooter pilot study will end Dec. 31.

For feedback, the city is also conducting a survey among residents. You can take the survey in English or in Spanish. Feedback received will help city officials determine what to do next with the scooters, according to the Department of Public Works website.
