RACINE — Racine police released the names of a woman who was shot and a man found dead in a home last Friday.

Police identified the 49-year-old man was Donta Cook, and the 52-year-old woman as Sheila Adams.

Racine police officers were called to an apartment in the 800 block of College Avenue around 5:30 a.m. There they found the woman suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, and the man deceased, apparently also from a gunshot wound.

An initial investigation from Racine PD found that Cook shot Adams before shooting and killing himself.

The woman was brought to Froedtert Hospital in serious condition, police say. She remains hospitalized in a stable condition.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.
