MILWAUKEE — It turns out what people initially thought was blood spilling from a garbage truck was in fact just "red fluid."
Milwaukee Police said they responded to a suspicious call on Tuesday around 9:25 a.m., on the 1100 block of S. 26th Street.
Witnesses there told officers that they thought a garbage truck was spilling a substance that appeared to be blood.
But responding officers soon determined it was not blood but a "red fluid" that had been leaking from the truck.
The department still did not identify that red substance, which ended up causing some confusion for neighbors on Tuesday.
