MILWAUKEE — Get out the bathing suit and sun glasses, Milwaukee, because it just got easier to get to the ocean.

Travelers using American Airlines will now have non-stop service between Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport and Miami International Airport.

The new flights will be offered every Saturday through April 4, 2021, Mitchell Airport announced in a statement Tuesday.

Coincidentally, the announcement comes as the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat face off in the Eastern Conference semifinal series. Those games are happening in Lake Buena Vista, outside of Orlando, though.

“Miami has been one of the most requested unserved markets from MKE, and I’m pleased we were able to work with American Airlines to secure this new service,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “Miami is American’s largest international hub, and this route gives Wisconsin travelers new access to dozens of exciting international markets, including many smaller islands, such as Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.”

The flights will be operated with WiFi-equipped Embraer E-175 aircraft, featuring 12 First, 20 Main Cabin Extra, and 44 Main Cabin seats. Tickets are available for purchase on AA.com and the American Airlines app.
