MILWAUKEE — A 23-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with homicide after he shot a woman to death near 19th and Arthur.

Xavier Wade has been charged with first degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to a criminal complaint, Wade shot the victim five times and caused multiple blunt force injuries. It is stated that the victim stole a blue Toyota Camry from a man she met at a bar on Oct. 6. She later drove to the home where her friend and Wade were.

The victim planned to sell the car to Wade in exchange for drugs, according to the criminal complaint. Wade and the victim left in the vehicle and police say Wade returned alone about 20 minutes later. That's when Wade admitted "I killed her," and accused the victim of "trying to play them."

The woman was found in an alley near 19th and Arthur with five gunshot wounds and several blunt force injuries. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police recovered the vehicle a few days after the shooting from a person who said they bought it from Wade on Oct. 8.
