A school located in Milwaukee's inner city is in need of help from the community. Atonement Lutheran School is starting its first softball team, but it does not have any gear or the funds for it.

They are looking for donations of new or gently used items. One community member even tweeted the Brewers for help.

They need bases, balls, gloves and masks. The team, which has 12 coed students, will practice after spring break.

Third-grade teacher and assistant softball coach Kate Jaeger said it’s important for her to give these kids every opportunity to play sports as other students around Milwaukee.

“You never know what your talent is until you try,” said Jaeger.

For many of the students, this will be their first time playing softball.

To donate, contact the school at 414-871-1224.
