MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police are now investigating the shooting death of 51-year-old Keith Winters. Investigators told TODAY’S TMJ4, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said Winters was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The news was a surprise to many other people in the neighborhood who saw Winters hours before the shooting.
“You don’t expect people you know and see in the same day to get killed,” said Auturo Ramos.
Off-camera, a close relative of Winters told TODAY’S TMJ4 they were enjoying Christmas together as a family.
Winters’ girlfriend, Marilyn James, said a fight involving Keith broke out around 10:30 p.m. before the shots were fired.
“His daughter told me he was fighting with somebody,” James said.
Winters was a father of four children. It is unclear what started the altercation.
Police are still looking for the suspect in the shooting.
