MADISON, Wis. -- Despite an online petition with over 2000 signatures, the Madison Metropolitan School District will remain open despite the hot temperatures expected, Tuesday.
The petition states that a lack of air conditioning in many schools could be dangerous for the students. It also said that they had an extra "snow day" that was not used this year.
The district responded by posting a response on their Facebook page, saying that the schools will remain open.
The post said that teachers will follow protocol on keeping their classrooms cool. The district's post also said that they generally do not cancel class unless the National Weather Service issues an excessive heat warning.
