EAU CLAIRE — A lucky Eau Claire resident picked up the winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket from the Jan. 15 drawing.
The Wisconsin Lottery says Anthony Romanowski claimed the ticket last week, after purchasing the lucky number at a Mega Holiday in Chippewa Falls.
Romanowski tells the Lottery he will use his winnings to pay off his mortgage and car, and use some of the money to pay for his hobbies, which include hunting and fishing.
"It only took one ticket to win," Romanowski told the Lottery, according to a release on Thursday.
The same drawing produced two $10,000 winners, four $2,000 winners, and 17 $800 winners in Wisconsin.
The second-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the history of the game rose to $1 billion in annuity or $776.6 Million cash, won in Michigan on Jan. 22.
