MILWAUKEE — The ‘We Got This’ community garden gave out hundreds of toys to families in need in Milwaukee on Thursday morning.

Glen Brown attended the event with his family. He said it’s a beautiful thing to see community members support each other.

“It feels good, you don’t normally get this every day the community coming together,” said Glen.

Parents were able to pick out a toy for their child to open on Christmas morning and volunteers spent time carefully wrapping each gift.

“With everything going on, people still want to spread love,” said volunteer Hayden Mitchell.

Founder of "We Got This" community garden, Andre Lee Ellis said he is thankful to every community member who donated a gift and made the toy giveaway possible.

He said there is no better way to spend the holidays than giving to others.

“It’s a blessing to be a blessing, and as I always say when you give, you get, so when you get, give,” said Andre.

Andre said because the event was a success he hopes to do an even bigger toy giveaway next year.
