WISCONSIN — The first cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Oak Creek and in Kenosha County.
The Oak Creek Health Department said that they had received notification that a resident had tested positive for COVID-19. The person was tested for the virus as a result of the symptoms he or she was experiencing. The person is isolated and is following the recommendation of the Oak Creek Health Department.
In Kenosha County, a 59-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19. According to city officials, she had no known travel history. The patient is currently self-isolated.
“We are staffed and ready to handle the disease investigation of this positive case and all future cases,” said Freiheit. “But we need everyone in Kenosha County to help us by taking this very seriously and to remain home and away from others as much as possible.”
As of Monday, there have been 47 positive coronavirus cases in the state of Wisconsin. Over 500 tests have come back negative for the virus.
