RACINE — A 33-year-old Burlington woman was arrested Wednesday after Racine County received a reckless-driving complaint about a white Ford pickup truck that reportedly was swerving all over the road on State Highway 36 about 2:15 p.m.

Sarah K. Gorzalski allegedly had a 5-year-old in the truck. The child reportedly was seated in a child seat but was not buckled into the seat, police said in a news release.

Gorzalski was arrested for second-degree reckless endangering safety, operating after revocation (OWI related), second-offense Operating While Intoxicated with a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle and two counts of bail jumping.

She was being held at Racine County Jail on $5,750 cash bond and was issued several traffic citations, police said.

A Racine County deputy said the truck braked hard and then accelerated rapidly, causing the vehicle to fishtail. The deputy also said Gorzalski rapidly accelerated her vehicle while crawling out of a ditch, shooting across oncoming traffic and narrowly avoiding another collision with multiple oncoming vehicles.

The deputy proceeded to cross the median, which was covered in about 2 feet of snow, and traffic lanes to contact the driver, who submitted to field sobriety tests.

Gorzalski’s family took custody of the child.
