CEDARBURG — The Ozaukee County Sheriff has identified the Cedarburg man who was shot and killed on the side of Interstate 43 last Friday, as well as offered more details about the victim's life after talking with family.

Sheriff Jim Johnson identified the victim as 41-year-old Joshua Terry.

Johnson continued in a statement Monday that the suspect drove from the scene on northbound lanes of the interstate at a high rate of speed. The sheriff said the victim was "left to die" along the side of the road. An initial investigation found that Terry and the suspect had some kind of interaction before Terry was shot.

Authorities still seek to find that suspect.

Sheriff Johnson adds that he spoke with Terry's wife, who told him that he was "a good guy" and a wonderful husband.

She continued to the sheriff that Terry was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and enjoyed playing basketball with friends and working out at the YMCA in Saukville.

"He was a big guy with a heart of gold, some say he was a gentle giant. Family time was important for Joshua especially when it involved a game of Sheepshead. He relaxed by going for a drive and listening to music which is what he was doing the evening of Friday October 30th," Johnson wrote Monday.

The family of Terry is setting up a reward fund. The Sheriff's Office will share that update when it is available.

The sheriff concluded in his statement that his office is interested in any witnesses who may have observed a vehicle traveling northbound on I43 at a high rate of speed immediately after the incident, exited at CTH H in Port Washington, then traveled back southbound on I43.

If you have any information regarding this incident or the vehicle involved, you are asked to contact the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office at 262-284-7172.
