KENOSHA COUNTY — Thanks to a nearly $1 million state transportation grant, a new Kroger grocery distribution center is coming to the Village of Pleasant Prairie that will employ 700 people.

The $951,315 WisDOT Economic Assistance (TEA) grant was given to Kenosha County to make road improvements on a 0.8 mile section of County Highway H. Once the road improvements are done, Kroger will build a $112 million distribution center there scheduled to open in 2022.

The stretch of road to be fixed extends from 93rd Place and Highway H to Bain Station Road.

The new Kroger distribution center will focus on home grocery deliveries to Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.

The nearly $1 million grant covers nearly half of the total road reconstruction costs. The entire project costs $1.9 million.
