The 50 best Milwaukee area restaurants according to Yelp

Now is the perfect opportunity to eat your way through the greater Milwaukee area.

Yelp put together a list of the top 50 restaurants in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, Greenfield, Shorewood, New Berlin, Elm Grove, West Milwaukee, Brookfield, St. Francis and Cudahy. 

The list is based off total volume and ratings of reviews of all businesses in the restaurant category on Yelp. 

Blue Star Cafe is at the top of the list with a five-star rating. Yelp reviewers hype up this Somali restaurant for its flavorful dishes and reasonable prices.

Next up is a restaurant that's making its name around the 414. FreshFin Poké is a seafood style restaurant that allows guests to build their own poké bowl, or choose from a variety of signature bowls. This restaurant received 4.5 stars from Yelp users and is now an option at the new Fiserv Forum. 

"This place makes me really excited," said one Yelp reviewer of number three spot holder, Ono Kine Grindz. This popular Wauwatosa restaurant specializes in Hawaiian-style barbeque food. It received an overall 4.5-star rating.  

The West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe is another popular spot among Milwaukeeans, and its number four position on the list proves it. Yelp reviewers gave this restaurant 4.5 stars for its "over-the-top (yet solid) Bloody Mary" and "super filling breakfast."

Ending off the top five is the "American farm-to-table restaurant," Morel. Morel is known for its fresh ingredients and specifically, the Lamb Cappracio appetizer that is made up of smoked paprika aioli, shallot, caper, black salt, arugula, sarvecchio and toast. One reviewer said, "If I wasn't poor, I would eat at Morel any chance I could get."
