MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating after a 12-year-old boy was shot Wednesday night.
Officials said the shooting happened near 37th and Congress shortly before 8 p.m.
The boy was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
This incident marks thesecond shooting leaving a child in critical condition this week.
"I am also just as disheartened about another one of our young ones in our community being harmed," said Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman.
Milwaukee police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and they are seeking unknown suspects.
Police Chief Jeffery Norman shared that they do have a strong lead in this investigation.
"I know that we have a number of different weapons that we were able to secure from the particular investigation. Fortunately, right now the child is still recovering," said Chief Norman.
