SHOREWOOD — Shorewood's Village Board has voted to extend the outdoor seating season for certain restaurants through the winter months.

The Board confirmed on social media Monday that the extension only applies for businesses that have already requested permission to extend their seating outside.

Those businesses are required to make sure that at least five feet of sidewalk remains "unobstructed at all times" and that the business removes snow from the area amid the colder months.

For all other businesses, outdoor seating concludes Nov. 15.

"Several businesses have submitted plans to alter their installations to make them more winter-friendly. The Village's Business Improvement District coordinated this request, recognizing the ongoing occupancy restrictions and general indoor customer discomfort associated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," according to the Shorewood Village Board.
