SCAM ALERT: Scammers say you can get $1K in aid amid coronavirus

WISCONSIN — Beware of a recent scam claiming you can collect $1K in aid due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Kenosha Police Department is warning the public of a new scam amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Scammers are contacting victims saying they're eligible to collect $1K in aid. However, when victims go to collect, they find themselves losing $1K.

What makes this scam seem so real is the fact that there is a bill on the president's desk that could allow the federal government to send checks to American citizens—especially those struggling to find income.

This bill, though, is yet to be signed by the president, so if you see anything saying you qualify, beware. It is likely a scam.
