MILWAUKEE — A group of diverse young professionals are making an impact in local Milwaukee districts. About twenty participants of Co:lab will be tackling three different issues in three Milwaukee neighborhoods: the Near West Side, Granville and Mitchell Street.

"We are engaging with young professionals from the Milwaukee area to consider and work on neighborhood challenges," said Maggie Dauss, community manager and co-founder of The Commons.

Over the next seven weeks the teams, will meet once a week to focus on innovate ways to improve the center around the Madeska Theater along with bringing a sense of community ownership for young professionals working in the Granville business district.

"We partnered with different neighborhoods and asked them what their most pressing challenge was as a neighborhood business and we helped define the projects we thought these teams could accomplish over the next few weeks," said Matt Cordio, co-founder of Startup Milwaukee.

The civic accelerator project also includes workshops where the professionals will learn and advance their leadership, management and professional skills.

The teams will present their project pitches during YP Week 2019 at the Big Impact on Wednesday on April 24th.
