MILWAUKEE — Who is Yuri Swinford? We’ll let his coach tell you.

“He is just a special young man...he does it in the classroom. He does it on the court. He's a great teammate. He is always the first one to support his team when he's on the bench, staying engaged that way. Always reminding the rest of his teammates you know, that to support everybody. He is just a great young man. He's got a bright future ahead of him,” Milwaukee Area Technical College Head Coach Randy Casey says.

Swinford is part of something special brewing, with the Stormers.

TODAY’S TMJ4 Sports Anchor Lance Allan asks do you guys care about the number 2 ranking in the nation? Is that kind of cool? Would you rather be number one? What, how do you look at it?

“We definitely want to be number one. We're comin' for the number one spot," Swinford said.

Off the court? This team is taking care of business, too.

“We have great kids. We have eight guys that were above a 3.0 this semester. You know, a few more that were right at a 2.9. Our total team GPA was a 2.9 so they're all good young men,” Casey said.

“We have study halls every Friday, so coach is making sure that we get our grades and academics done first. He's very hard on us about that,” Swinford says.

“At the end of the day, that ball is going to stop bouncing. So what do you have to fall back on, once that day comes? And it's your education. Nobody can ever take that away from you,” Casey says.
