MADISON, Wis. - A new security policy says fans will be allowed to bring a clear plastic bag and a small purse into Camp Randall for home football games starting the coming season.

The University of Wisconsin's athletics department said fans are encouraged not to bring any bags inside Camp Randall Stadium, but each ticket holder is allowed one small clutch purse, 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches, and one large clear bag. The clear bag can be a 1-gallon clear storage-style plastic bag or a 12-by-6-by-12-inch clear tote bag.
Anyone with a non-approved bag will be asked to return it to his or her vehicle. There's no area to store or check it in at the stadium, the university said.

The new policy is based on best practices from security experts and will expedite the screening process, the university said.

Diaper bags will be permitted and are subject to a thorough security inspection, Wisconsin Athletics said. The university said it strongly recommends a clear bag for carrying diapers and non-medically necessary items for babies and young children. People carrying medically necessary items or equipment will be required to have their items inspected and tagged by security supervisors at the gates.
