The news broke Thursday that the Packers would be "moving on from John Kuhn," as reported by WTMJ's Greg Matzek.
Fullbacks like Kuhn have become a dying breed, an offensive lineman wearing backfield numerals. They don't often get the spotlight.
However, Kuhn became a fan favorite with his rough and tumble style of play, his jovial nature and his last name which evoked long "u" vowel screams among the Lambeau faithful.
Here is a totally subjective top five list of his best career moments as a Packer. They don't include gaudy stats, as fullbacks almost never touch the football. 5) Sept. 27, 2009 at St. Louis - Touching the ball just twice, Kuhn has his first double-touchdown day for Green Bay as the Packers blow out the Rams, 36-17.
4) Jan. 5, 2013, NFC Wild Card playoff vs. Minnesota - In the cold of Lambeau Field, Kuhn scores twice to help provide the margin of victory in a 24-10 win over their NFC North co-archrivals.
3) Dec. 26, 2010 vs. N.Y. Giants - Kuhn rumbles for three touchdowns, his biggest scoring day as a pro, in the Packers' 45-17 drubbing of New York, the first of six consecutive victories propelling the Packers to their 13th NFL title.
2) Jan. 15, 2011, NFC Divisional playoff at Atlanta - Kuhn churns out a pair of touchdowns and helps protect Aaron Rodgers on what may have been his best day as a quarterback (31-36, 366 yards, 3 TD passes, 1 TD rush) in a 48-21 crushing on the way to their Super Bowl XLV victory.
1) Dec. 29, 2013 at Chicago - Kuhn's block of then-Chicago Bears defensive end and future teammate Julius Peppers to free up Aaron Rodgers to throw Randall Cobb the last-minute, division championship-clinching touchdown pass in the Packers' 33-28 win over the Bears.
