One of the top Milwaukee Brewers relief pitchers the last few seasons has reportedly been traded to the Detroit Tigers.

The Brewers say they have sent Francisco Rodriguez to Detroit and future considerations in exchange for infielder Javier Betancourt. Milwaukee will also receive a player to be named at a later time.

Rodriguez played parts of five seasons with Milwaukee. He had a 2.91 ERA with 95 of his 386 career saves, the active leader in that category.

Betancourt.spent 2015 with Lakeland, a high class A member of the Tigers system. He averaged .263 in 122 games with 3 home runs and 48 RBI. (Stats courtesy Baseball Reference.)

"We've stated our intentions may times...we're looking to acquire as much young, quality, controllable talent as we can. We think we took a nice step in this direction with this deal," said Brewers GM David Stearns.

"K-Rod has been a valuable member of this organization, clearly had a very solid season last year. We felt as though we were trading from a space of strength out of our bullpen. We still feel it's a space of strength."
