Optimism is in the air as the Milwaukee Brewers kick off the 2017 season Monday against the Colorado Rockies.

Traditionally, Opening Day is as much about the pomp and circumstance surrounding the game as it is baseball itself.

Then there's the tailgating. The parking lots will open at 10:10 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than past Opening Days. The gates to the stadium will also open at that time.

The Brewers ask fans to buy parking passes in advance, as there will be no available overflow parking at State Fair Park this season.

Tickets were still available for the game as of early Monday morning.

Small bags, soft-sided coolers, purses, diaper bags and strollers are all allowed inside Miller Park, along with food in soft, see-through containers and sealed drinks.

Former Brewers owner and future Baseball Hall of Famer Bud Selig, the commissioner emeritus of the sport, will throw out the first pitch.

Mike Attanasio, the son of owner Mark Attanasio, will sing the national anthem.

Weather permitting, the team will also hold the annual Racing Sausages relay race from the Klement's plant at 10 a.m. Monday to Miller Park, delivering the "first brat" for the game.
