Every year, approximately 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs. That number includes children, adults, and the elderly, and the dogs included in these statistics are of all ages, breeds (purebreds and mixes), and temperaments. At the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha, or HAWS, part of their mission is to educate the community on humane sentiments: treating animals with respect, and learning to be a responsible pet owner. Joining us with important information on reading dog language and preventing bites are Kiersten Watry from HAWS and Jill Miorana, a Waukesha County Humane Officer.
