In an age of environmental crisis, Craig wanted to tell a story from a plant’s perspective. But which plant did he truly know? Then he remembered his childhood spent in ginseng fields. At ten, he and his family woke at dawn, dressed in pesticide-stained clothes, and drove down gravel roads to massive, tarp-covered ginseng gardens, where they spent long days weeding under the sun.
