Helping Women Survivors of Sexual Exploitation
Posted
and last updated

Franciscan Peacemakers is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization that connects women survivors of sexual exploitation to safe housing, meaningful work and a healing network of support. Franciscan Peacemakers began working in Milwaukee 25 years ago by providing street outreach to women engaging in prostitution and has expanded and developed over time to add a 2 year housing program that includes living wage employment for women ready to choose healing from the trauma that accompanies sexual exploitation. Additionally, because trafficking of women is something that affects every county in Wisconsin, the work of Franciscan Peacemakers has expanded to include the advocacy for women who are trafficked out of Dane, Dodge, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha counties in addition to the very important work of educating people in these counties about sex trafficking prevention.
