School is starting once again, and kids around the state are packing their backpacks with essentials, or configuring an at home school space. One organization is looking to make sure the odd circumstances do not affect children's educational success this year. Our Next Generation provides academic tutoring, enrichment programming, and social support to thousands of students in the heart of one of Milwaukee’s most challenged communities, with tangible results: better grades, higher high-school graduation rates, improved self-esteem, and positive attitudes toward the future.
We spoke to La Toya Sykes, the Executive Director at Our Next Generation, about the hurdles that come with school during COVID19, and how they are doing something about it.
