Author Evan Wolkenstein is no stranger to feeling like the odd one out. He began writing a comic strip 30 years after surgery to correct a facial difference titled "How I Learned to Love My Face". Now that comic strip has evolved into a beautiful story of a middle school boy who mostly finds comfort in his turtle friends, trying to overcome his own differences, while making an unlikely friend in the process. Evan Wolkenstein joins us today to talk about his inspiration for writing the book, his own experiences, and how we can all learn to break out of our shell.
You can grab your own copy of Turtle Boy today at your favorite local bookstore, or by visiting evanwolkenstein.com. And for more information on the virtual "Making a Jewish Bucket List" event on Tuesday, July 14, click here!
